The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)

You our your child will be admitted to the EMU for a varying period of time dependent on your doctor's recommended individualized care plan. The patient will be in a private room. A caregiver, parent, guardian, or extended family member identified by the patient or parent who is able to identify symptoms of seizures will need to stay with the patient throughout the hospital stay.  You may find it helpful to have two family members present for all or part of the week, so as to provide breaks for one caregiver.

Testing During the Phase One Evaluation

Your or your child should expect the have any or all of the following procedures during a stay on the EMU. Depending on insurance, some of the testing may need to be completed as an outpatient.  We will work with you and your insurance to provide the most efficient care.
